EAP Support

City of Minneapolis employees have access to Emotional Wellbeing Solutions, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which is available with 24/7 support from trained professionals at no extra cost. The number below is also on the back of your medical insurance card. This resource is available to all employees and their families whether you are on the medical plan or not.

Insurance

The City offers dental, disability, life, and medical insurance to eligible employees. Additionally, they offer flexible health insurance spending accounts.

Discounts 

The City has a partnership with Minnesota Employee Recreation & Services Council (MERSC) where employees, retirees and their immediate family members are eligible for discounts on entertainment, theater tickets, travel, and other products and services. Employees will need to register on the MERSC website by creating an account, and pay a $5 annual membership fee for their personal account. Once registered, you will be given a MERSC ID# and have access to a MERSC membership card through your account. Employees will be able to take a screenshot or download and print the MERSC ID card and have access to the offers on the site. For any questions relating to the program, please reach out to HR. 

Parking

For employees that are both part or full-time, there are several options in commuting into the City:

• Metropass which is unlimited rides on the Metro Transit bus or trains when enrolled. 
• Setting aside pre-tax dollars ($315 p/month) for qualified parking or vanpool expenses. The monthly limit may be adjusted by the IRS in future years.

Education

City employees have the opportunity to take advantage of educational discounts from the following schools:

Augsburg University

City employees get a $50 discount per undergraduate credit for adult undergraduate degree programs and an $80 discount per graduate credit for graduate degree programs at Augsburg College. The discount applies only to new students and does not apply to certificate programs, individual courses, and the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.

Hamline University

City employees can save 10% per credit hour tuition for the Master of Public Administration program as well as all of the master’s programs in the School of Business (MPA, MBA, and Master of Nonprofit Management) as well as the Master in the Study of Law, the Master of Arts in Teaching and the Master of Arts in Education. In addition, there is a 10% discount for seminars and certificate programs offered by the Center of Public Administration and Leadership.

St. Catherine's

City employees can save 10% on tuition for certain programs in the College for Adults and Graduate College. Programs currently eligible for the scholarship include bachelor's, master’s, and doctoral programs in Business, Marketing, Organizational Leadership, Social Work, Public Health (MPH), Holistic Health, Health Informatics, Nursing, and Education.

St.Mary's University of Minnesota

City employees receive a 10% savings on tuition and waived application fee for Schools of Graduate Professional Programs that includes Bachelor completion, Undergraduate & Graduate Certificates, Master’s, Professional Development, Specialist, and Doctoral programs. Degree programs are offered on-campus and online.
